Set at the foot of Mount Tamalpais, Mill Valley has an old-world charm in an idyllic woodsy setting. Surrounded by federal and state park lands, including the ancient redwood forest of Muir Woods National Monument and the iconic Mount Tamalpais State Park, it is no wonder MONEY Magazine and CNN have rated it one of the top 10 American cities to live.

Downtown you’ll find boutiques, restaurants, art galleries, the Sequoia movie theater and Lytton Square (featuring the former train station Book Depot Café, outdoor chess tables, kids playing with chalk or hacky sack, and a section of the gravity train once used for the “Crookedest Railroad in the World” on Mount Tam.). Catch a live performance at the Sweetwater music club, or the Throckmorton Theatre. Both are known to gather famous musicians, artists and comedians for nights of improvisation or working on newer material. Internationally recognized, Mill Valley Film Festival attracts top name talent to the city annually.

Mount Tamalpais is a local staple for many other community events. The annual 7.1 mile Dipsea Race is the second oldest footrace in the US, taking participants over the mountain and to the ocean. In June, don’t miss The Mountain Play. This annual production brings Broadway musicals to a stunning outdoor amphitheater.

Homes here still provide a true range of categories, all with close proximity to San Francisco. From old hunters cabins to multimillion dollar estates; flat lands or canyons to ridgelines; views from your winding perch, to great walkability and charm. Neighborhoods are plentiful. I’d love to speak to you more to find your ideal location.

Mill Valley is also known for having some of the best schools in the nation. Mill Valley Middle School, alone, is a four time California Distinguished School award winner.

Summers are frequently long and comfortable, while winters are colder and wet. Temperatures rarely go above 83F or below 36F. Some areas of Mill Valley are known for coastal fog, which when present often burns off during the day.
